Startup Founders Urge President Trump to Maintain Access to Chinese AI Models
Nearly 200 Silicon Valley companies have appealed to President Trump to avoid cutting off access to Chinese open-weight AI models. The Little Tech Association, representing these startups, sent letters to the administration, emphasizing the importance of these models for U.S. innovation. The appeal comes amid reports that the Trump administration is considering restrictions on Chinese AI models, which could impact U.S. startups relying on these models for development. The association argues that such restrictions would disadvantage U.S. startups and benefit larger AI companies like Anthropic, urging the government to adopt targeted safeguards instead.
