Cecily Tynan Announces Retirement from 6abc After Three Decades, Impacting Philadelphia's News Landscape
Cecily Tynan, a prominent meteorologist at 6abc, has announced her retirement after more than 30 years with the station. Tynan, who became the first female chief meteorologist in 2009, has been a significant figure in Philadelphia's TV news scene, covering major weather events such as Hurricane Sandy and the Blizzard of 1996. Her last day at the station will be August 31. Tynan expressed her gratitude to viewers and colleagues, stating her plans to spend more time with her family, particularly attending her daughter's college track meets. Her departure follows other notable exits from the station, including meteorologist Chris Sowers and general manager Bernie Prazenica.
