Air India Pilot of Turbulence-Hit Flight Faces Dope Test Controversy
The captain of an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi, which experienced severe turbulence, reportedly tested positive for psychoactive substances in a dope test conducted upon arrival. The Airbus A320, carrying 145 passengers, encountered turbulence near Odisha, resulting in a sudden 300-foot drop. Thirteen passengers and four crew members were hospitalized. Air India has not confirmed the test results, stating that they have not been shared with the airline. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the incident, focusing on the handling of the turbulence and the potential impact on the aircraft.
