Lviv City Council Approves Significant Water Tariff Increase Affecting Residents
The Lviv City Council has approved a significant increase in the water tariff, which will take effect on August 1, 2026. The new tariff for water supply and wastewater disposal will be 56.38 UAH per cubic meter, more than doubling the previous rate of 25.88 UAH per cubic meter that has been in place since 2022. This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the Lviv City Council, as reported by the council's press service. The increase is attributed to rising costs for electricity, fuel, reagents, and wages at Lvivvodokanal, the city's water utility. The new tariff is described as the minimum necessary to cover current operating costs, without providing for development or modernization of the water network. The increase will result in higher monthly bills for residents, with a single person using 3 cubic meters of water per month seeing an increase of about 92 UAH, and a family using 9 cubic meters experiencing a rise of approximately 275 UAH.
