British Driver Andy Green Attempts New Land Speed Record with Hydrogen Car in Utah
British driver Andy Green, known for breaking the sound barrier in a car, is set to attempt a new land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Green, who previously set a diesel-powered car speed record of 350.092 mph, will now attempt to surpass this with a hydrogen-powered vehicle. The car, named JCB Hydromax, is powered by two hydrogen internal combustion engines, producing a combined output of 1,600 horsepower. This attempt not only aims to set a new speed record but also to demonstrate the potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source. Green's practice runs have already reached speeds of 368.347 mph, and the official attempt will be observed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.
