Merger Forms Nation's Largest Suicide Prevention Nonprofit
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and The Jed Foundation (JED) have announced their plans to merge, creating the largest suicide prevention nonprofit in the United States. This merger, pending regulatory approval, is expected to finalize in the fall. The combined organization will have an annual operating budget of approximately $75 million and net assets of around $140 million. Both organizations have a history of collaboration and aim to leverage their strengths to enhance national suicide prevention strategies. The merger is seen as a significant step in addressing the urgent demand for mental health and suicide prevention support across the country.
