Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Receives $110,000 in Community Initiative Grants
Pennsylvania Highlands Community College has been awarded two Community Initiative Grants totaling $110,000 from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. These grants are designated to support projects aimed at fostering community and economic development within the Greater Johnstown region. Specifically, the college's Cambria County Smart Start Promise Program received a $100,000 grant, while its Nonprofit Partnership Training and Initiatives Project was allocated $10,000. Dr. Steve Nunez, President of Pennsylvania Highlands, highlighted that the investment in Smart Start helps local students acquire workforce-aligned credentials, reduces barriers to college participation, and strengthens the talent pipeline crucial for Cambria County's long-term economic success.
