IFAD Seeks Saudi Investment to Expand Sustainable Bond Program for Food Security
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is actively seeking to deepen its engagement with Saudi investors as it expands its sustainable bond program. This initiative aims to support food security, climate resilience, water management, and agricultural development in emerging markets. Since entering the capital markets in 2022, IFAD has issued over $1 billion in sustainable bonds, creating a financing channel that connects institutional investors with projects focused on rural economies and smallholder agriculture. Saudi Arabia, a founding member of IFAD, has been a longstanding financial and strategic partner. The partnership has expanded beyond financial contributions into technical cooperation and policy dialogue. IFAD's strategy emphasizes market integration, rural employment, and resilience, seeking stronger private-sector participation.
