Volunteers Enhance Capitol Green Connector in Jackson with New Tree Plantings
Volunteers in Jackson, Mississippi, participated in a Museum Trail Community Planting Day along the Capitol Green Connector. This initiative involved planting new trees and landscaping as construction progresses on the next phase of the trail, which extends into Downtown Jackson. The newly planted trees are intended to provide future shade, support native habitats, improve stormwater management, and create a more inviting environment for pedestrians and cyclists using the corridor. The Capitol Green Connector is designed to extend the Museum Trail, establishing a new pedestrian and bicycle route that will link key downtown destinations such as the Old Capitol Museum, Hal & Mal’s and Martins, and the Two Mississippi Museums. This segment is a crucial part of a larger trail network, with plans to eventually connect to the future Arts District Connector, aiming to enhance safe and accessible movement throughout downtown neighborhoods, cultural institutions, businesses, and public spaces.
