UNESCO Adds Mount Olympus and D-Day Beaches to World Heritage List
UNESCO has added several significant sites to its World Heritage List, including the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy, France, and Mount Olympus in Greece. The D-Day beaches, pivotal in the Allied liberation of Europe during World War II, are recognized for their historical importance. Mount Olympus, known as the mythical home of the Greek gods, is celebrated for its cultural and natural significance. These additions were announced during a UN committee meeting in South Korea, which reviewed numerous nominations for the prestigious list.
