UChicago Paleontologist Unveils Plans for Teen-Focused Science Center in Washington Park
Paul Sereno, a paleontologist at the University of Chicago, has announced plans for Scitopia Chicago, a new science center in Washington Park dedicated to teen education and public exhibits. The center will feature library resources, gathering spaces, a museum, and teen maker labs for hands-on learning. Sereno, known for his discoveries of new dinosaur species, aims to create a space where teens can learn, create, and connect with peers. The center will be free for teens across the state and is expected to cost around $50 million, with completion targeted for 2029. The facility will be located near East Garfield Boulevard and South Prairie Avenue, contributing to local development and education.
