Brazilian Agency Investigates Sale of Rare Earth Mining Company to U.S. Firm
Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) has initiated an investigation into the sale of Serra Verde Pesquisa e Mineração to USA Rare Earth for $2.8 billion. The investigation aims to determine if the transaction constitutes a concentration act that should have been reviewed by antitrust authorities. The deal involves creating a multinational rare earth company with operations in Brazil, the U.S., France, and the UK. Serra Verde has also signed a 15-year supply contract with a U.S.-funded company, potentially impacting global rare earth supply dynamics.
