Texas Book Festival Launches Burro Libro Press to Support Emerging Writers
The Texas Book Festival has announced the creation of Burro Libro Press, a new publishing imprint aimed at debut literary fiction by emerging writers with strong ties to Texas. This initiative is a collaboration with Deep Vellum Publishing, Letterpress PLAY, and the Tejemos Foundation. The imprint will publish one new title annually, selected through a prize contest. Submissions for the first cycle will be open from June 1 to June 30, with the winning manuscript announced by the end of the year. The selected author will receive editorial development, a print run of 2,000 copies, a professionally produced audiobook, a $5,000 cash prize, and promotional opportunities at the Texas Book Festival Weekend 2027.
