Vanessa Bryant Commemorates Daughter Gianna's Birthday with Heartfelt Tribute
Vanessa Bryant honored her late daughter Gianna on what would have been her 20th birthday by posting a heartfelt message on Instagram. Gianna, along with her father, Kobe Bryant, and seven others, tragically died in a helicopter crash six years ago. The crash occurred while they were en route to the Mamba Sports Academy in Newbury Park, California, where Kobe was set to coach Gianna's basketball team. Vanessa's post received supportive comments from notable figures such as LeBron James and Sabrina Ionescu, as well as celebrities like Olivia Munn, Ciara, and Kelly Rowland. In memory of Kobe and Gianna, a statue was unveiled in front of the Crypto.com Arena in August 2024. Additionally, the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, founded by Vanessa, announced its scholarship recipients in honor of Gianna's birthday, awarding scholarships to 20 student-athletes from Los Angeles and Orange County.
