UK's 'Scariest Debt Collector' Loses Court Case Against Liverpool Charity Over £25k Claim
Shaun Smith Enterprises Limited (SSEL), owned by Shaun Smith, known as the UK's 'scariest debt collector', took legal action against the Eldonian Community Trust Limited, a registered charity, claiming it owed over £25,000 for 'consultancy services'. The case was heard at Liverpool County Court, where SSEL alleged that the charity had failed to pay an invoice for services rendered under an agreement dated April 18, 2023. The agreement purportedly involved consultancy services charged at £1,500 per month. Despite the claim, District Judge Louise Metcalf dismissed the application in full, ruling in favor of the charity and awarding fixed costs against SSEL. The Eldonian Community Trust expressed relief at the outcome, emphasizing their commitment to serving the community without the distraction of ongoing litigation.
