Storm Dave Causes Power Outages and Travel Disruptions in Northern UK
Storm Dave has brought significant disruptions to parts of northern England, north-west Wales, and southern Scotland. According to the BBC, the storm swept in on Saturday, with wind gusts reaching up to 93 mph at Capel Curig in north Wales. Other areas, including Emley Moor in West Yorkshire and St Bees Head in Cumbria, experienced gusts of 75 mph, while Buchan in Aberdeenshire recorded 73 mph. The Met Office initially issued an amber wind warning, which was in effect until 03:00 on Sunday. However, the winds eased more quickly than anticipated, leading to the cancellation of the yellow warnings. The storm has caused power outages affecting approximately 350 properties across Lancashire and Cumbria, with restoration efforts underway.
