Elon University Report Highlights 'Superstupidity' as Major AI Risk, Urges Resilience Building
A recent report from Elon University, titled 'Building a Human Resilience Infrastructure for the AI Age,' warns that the greatest threat posed by artificial intelligence (AI) is not the technology itself becoming too intelligent, but rather humans becoming overly reliant on it, a condition termed 'superstupidity.' The report, which surveyed 386 global experts including academics, technologists, and business leaders, highlights that 82% of respondents believe AI will significantly shape people's lives within the next decade. The report emphasizes the need for institutions to take proactive measures to build resilience against the psychological and societal impacts of AI, such as the erosion of human agency and the potential for AI to displace workers.
