Senators Blackburn and Scott Propose Memorial for Victims of Communist China's Tyranny
Senators Marsha Blackburn and Rick Scott have introduced a legislative proposal to establish a memorial in Washington, D.C., to honor victims of the Chinese Communist Party's regime. The proposed site for the memorial is an international park opposite the Chinese Embassy. The initiative, named the 'Honoring the Victims of Communist China's Tyranny Act,' aims to remind Chinese officials of the alleged human rights abuses under their governance. The memorial would commemorate victims from various historical events, including the Mao Zedong era and the Tiananmen Square massacre, as well as ongoing issues involving minority groups in China. The bill also outlines a government funding cap of $500,000 for the memorial, with additional funds to be raised through private donations.
