NYK and Hokkaido Electric Power Collaborate on Maritime Decarbonization Study
NYK and Hokkaido Electric Power have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct a study on onboard carbon capture and storage (OCCS) technologies. The study aims to explore decarbonization strategies for maritime transport, focusing on a demonstration project in Tomakomai, Japan. The project will involve the design and operation of demonstration equipment on the coal carrier Pirika Moshiri Maru. Scheduled to run through fiscal year 2028, the study represents a collaborative effort to address environmental challenges in the maritime industry.
