Kelsey Luderer's Home Run Sparks Sherman Oaks Notre Dame to Playoff Victory
Ticks are increasingly becoming a concern not just in wooded areas but also in residential backyards, according to Consumer Reports. These pests thrive in cool, shady, and damp environments, often hiding in tall grass, weeds, and yard debris. To reduce the risk of ticks in your yard, Consumer Reports recommends maintaining grass at a height of about 3 inches, trimming back overgrown vegetation, and clearing away leaf piles and brush. For properties adjacent to wooded areas, creating a three-foot barrier of dry wood chips or gravel can help prevent ticks from migrating into your lawn. Additionally, animals like deer and mice can carry ticks into your yard, so measures such as installing tall fences and using bait boxes to control tick populations on mice are advised. Regular personal checks after yard work are also essential to minimize exposure.
