Two Family Members Arrested in Colorado Springs for Forcibly Taking Children from Caseworkers
Multiple law enforcement agencies in Colorado Springs, Colorado, took two family members into custody on Thursday after they forcibly removed two children from the care and custody of social service caseworkers. Colorado Springs police were called to assist a local social service agency around 3 p.m. after field workers reported being confronted and assaulted. The family members allegedly took the children and fled the area. Following a coordinated effort involving Colorado Springs police, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and Fountain police, the involved family members, identified as 32-year-old Mandy Bartholomew and 36-year-old Richard Bartholomew, were apprehended in the Widefield area. Authorities confirmed that the children were not harmed during the incident. Court records on Friday morning indicated that Richard Bartholomew is being held on a $2,000 bond, with no immediate information available regarding Mandy Bartholomew's bond.
