Australian Drone Captures Rare Humpback Whale Birth, Highlighting Marine Life Conservation
A drone pilot in Australia has captured a rare event: the birth of a humpback whale off the New South Wales north coast. This marks only the fourth time such an event has been recorded on film globally, and the first time by drone. The footage was taken during aerial observations conducted by the Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia (Orrca). The video shows the newborn calf's first moments, including its initial breath and interaction with its mother. This documentation provides valuable insights into the life cycle of humpback whales, which are a focus of conservation efforts due to their migratory patterns and the threats they face from human activities.
