The ruling maintains a state injunction against Sable Offshore, despite a federal executive order allowing the restart of operations. The company plans to challenge the ruling in court, arguing that the executive order, issued under the Defense Production Act, supersedes state law. The order was intended to address national energy security concerns amid limited oil supply due to the U.S. conflict with Iran. The Santa Ynez pipeline, central to the dispute, was previously shut down in 2015 following an oil spill.
