Tropical Storm Bertha Approaches Texas Coast with Minimal Impact Expected for Houston
Tropical Storm Bertha is advancing westward along the Gulf Coast, prompting a Tropical Storm Watch from Morgan City, Louisiana, to Sargent, Texas. The National Hurricane Center reports that Bertha is expected to make landfall in Louisiana and continue moving towards the Texas coast. Although the storm is weakening, it may maintain tropical storm intensity through late Thursday. Houston is not expected to experience significant impacts, but coastal areas may see isolated rainfall, elevated tides, minor flooding, gusty winds, and dangerous surf conditions. The storm is part of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, following the earlier storm Arthur, which affected the Texas Gulf Coast in June.
