LinkedIn User Warns Against Sophisticated Job Recruitment Scams
Craig Mullins, a LinkedIn user, has issued a warning about a prevalent and deceptive job recruitment scam circulating on the platform. Mullins detailed an encounter where he was approached for an Executive Vice President & Chief Data and Mainframe Strategy Officer position at a California-based enterprise data infrastructure and AI software company. The offer, which seemed 'too good to be true,' prompted Mullins to investigate the recruiter's profile. He discovered inconsistencies, noting that the recruiter, supposedly a hotel management professional from Istanbul, was attempting to place an executive in a U.S.-based tech company. When confronted, the scammer became aggressive, and their LinkedIn profile subsequently vanished. Mullins shared this experience to alert other users to the sophisticated nature of these fraudulent job pitches, emphasizing the potential risks associated with providing contact information to unverified sources.
