Beach Warning Issued for Chicago: 6-Foot Waves Expected Through Saturday
The National Weather Service has issued a beach warning for Lake Michigan beaches in northern and central Cook Counties, effective through Saturday afternoon. Waves are expected to reach heights of 4 to 6 feet, accompanied by dangerous currents. These conditions pose significant risks to swimmers, particularly those who are inexperienced. Officials have strongly advised against entering the water and warned against venturing onto piers, jetties, break walls, or other shoreline structures. Current temperatures in Chicago are 49°F (9°C) at O’Hare International Airport and 51°F (11°C) at Midway Airport. Temperatures are forecasted to rise to the mid-50s°F (13-15°C) on Thursday and reach the low 60s°F (16-18°C) by Saturday.
