Castlewood Canyon State Park Reopens Trails and Roads After Weekend Flooding
Castlewood Canyon State Park in Douglas County, Colorado, has fully reopened all its trails and roads after experiencing significant flooding and erosion on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Heavy rain showers on Saturday dropped between 2 to 3 inches of rain in a short period, leading Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) to initially close the entire trail system and the west side of the park due to washed-out sections of South Castlewood Canyon Road. However, by Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2026, CPW announced that all affected areas were accessible again. The region was also anticipating more heavy rain on Sunday, indicating ongoing weather challenges.
