Democratic Candidate Chris Rabb Defends Controversial Streamer Hasan Piker Amid Party Disavowals
Pennsylvania state Rep. Chris Rabb, a Democratic socialist favored to win Philadelphia's 3rd Congressional District, has publicly defended far-left streamer Hasan Piker. This defense comes as other prominent Democrats are distancing themselves from Piker due to his radical left-wing positions and past controversial comments, including a suggestion that the U.S. deserved the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. Rabb, who previously appeared with Piker at an event in West Philadelphia, tweeted, "F--- that noise," in response to Democrats disavowing Piker. He characterized the focus on Piker as an effort by "institutionalists" and suggested a double standard, stating that as a Black progressive, he would be criticized for associating with Piker. Rabb's stance puts him at odds with figures like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who called Piker’s comments about American Jews "dangerous and anti-Semitic," and Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who is calling for a bipartisan resolution condemning Piker.
