Chicago Ducky Derby Raises Funds for Special Olympics Illinois
The annual Chicago Ducky Derby took place on the Chicago River, where 90,000 rubber ducks were released to raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois. The event, which is a major fundraiser, saw participants sponsor ducks for a chance to win prizes, including an SUV for the fastest duck and $2,500 for the runner-up. The event also featured a festival with activities such as taking photos with inflatable ducks and writing on a chalkboard about why they adopted a duck. Becky Cavanagh, a Special Olympics athlete, was the ambassador for the event and expressed her excitement about the community and friendships formed through the Special Olympics.
