Shatiek Johnson, the man convicted of fatally shooting NYPD officer Gerard Carter in 1998, has died in prison. Johnson, who was 45 years old, had been serving a maximum sentence at Attica Correctional Facility for over 25 years. Johnson was 17 when he shot Officer Carter, who was on patrol in a marked police van outside a Staten Island housing development.
