Indiana Police Increase Patrols to Address Speeding and Distracted Driving
Indiana police agencies are intensifying patrols to combat speeding and distracted driving as part of the annual Safer Roads Campaign. This initiative, running through April 13, 2026, is a collaboration between the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, Indiana State Police, and local law enforcement, supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Officers will work overtime to enforce Indiana's Hands-Free Law, which prohibits holding mobile devices while driving. The campaign aims to reduce traffic incidents by promoting compliance with speed limits and discouraging distracted driving.
