Spring chill returns as snow hits Northwest, Rockies
A late-season cold storm is sweeping across the western U.S. from Wednesday through Friday, bringing rain, mountain snow and a sharp temperature drop. Temperatures will fall 10–25°F below normal, with snow levels dropping to as low as 1,500–2,000 feet in the Cascades. Several inches to a foot of snow are expected in parts of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, causing hazardous travel in mountain passes. The storm will also spread into the Rockies, delivering needed moisture but creating wintry conditions unusual for mid-April.
