Newmont Suspends Cadia Underground Mining Following Earthquake
Newmont Corporation has temporarily halted its underground operations at the Cadia mine in Australia following seismic activity. An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Local Magnitude scale occurred in Central West, New South Wales, on April 14, followed by two aftershocks. Newmont has confirmed that all safety procedures were effective, with no injuries reported and all personnel accounted for. The company is currently conducting inspections and assessments with specialist teams to ensure safety before resuming operations.
