Cheshire East Council Launches Crisis and Resilience Fund to Support Residents Facing Financial Hardship
Cheshire East Council has introduced a new Crisis and Resilience Fund aimed at providing essential support to residents experiencing sudden financial difficulties. The fund, initiated by the UK Government through the Department for Work and Pensions, will operate from April 2026 to March 2029. It is designed to offer immediate assistance for unexpected financial crises while promoting long-term financial stability. Eligible residents can access various forms of support, including one-off payments for emergencies, assistance with heating oil, and help with essential household items. The fund also covers housing-related costs and connects residents to services provided by local voluntary, community, and faith organizations. Cheshire East Council will receive £11.3 million over the program's duration, allowing for medium-term planning to ensure continuous support during financial pressures.
