Miami Hotel Imploded to Make Way for New Luxury Development
A 23-story hotel located on Brickell Key, a human-made island near downtown Miami, was demolished through a controlled implosion. The former Mandarin Oriental, Miami, which had been a fixture for 25 years, was brought down in less than 20 seconds. The demolition was part of a plan to pave the way for The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, a new ultraluxury hotel and residential development. The project is expected to be completed by 2030. The implosion was carefully planned over two years, involving coordination with specialized contractors and city officials to ensure safety and minimize disruption to the local community.
