Despite staying within the approved budget of $380 million, concerns have been raised about the financial planning and the effectiveness of revenue strategies, such as premium ticket sales and hotel taxes. Mayor Olivia Chow praised the event's success, emphasizing the lessons learned and the city's efforts to manage costs. The audit aims to determine whether the city's investment was justified, considering the increased budget and the economic benefits derived from hosting the tournament.
