STARMUS Festival Unveils Jane Goodall Earth Medal to Honor Environmental Leadership
The STARMUS Festival has introduced the Jane Goodall Earth Medal, a new international award aimed at recognizing individuals who contribute significantly to the protection of life on Earth. The medal was unveiled on Dr. Jane Goodall's birthday, April 3, and will be presented during the STARMUS VIII event scheduled for October 17-22, 2026, in Tenerife and La Palma, Canary Islands. Dr. Goodall, a renowned primatologist and conservationist, has been a member of the STARMUS Advisory Board since 2022. The medal's design, featuring human hands holding the planet, symbolizes the responsibility and care required to protect the Earth. This award complements the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, emphasizing STARMUS's dual mission of celebrating scientific discovery and environmental stewardship.
