Grand Rapids Student Leader Advocates for Civic Engagement and Education
Odon Kiara, a senior at Grand Rapids Public Museum High School, is making significant strides in civic engagement and leadership. Having immigrated from the Democratic Republic of the Congo at age 7, Odon has been actively involved in various leadership roles, including the YMCA Youth in Government and the Grand Rapids Mayor’s Youth Council. His internship with U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten’s Democracy Summer program has further fueled his passion for educating voters. Odon emphasizes the importance of informed voting and aims to empower others through education and advocacy, believing that leadership is about service and community involvement.
