Thomas Goldstein, a prominent Supreme Court litigator, has been sentenced to six years in prison for tax evasion and mortgage fraud. Goldstein, known for co-founding SCOTUSblog and his involvement in high-profile cases, was found guilty of multiple charges, including tax evasion and aiding in the preparation of false tax returns. The case revealed Goldstein's secretive lifestyle as a high-stakes poker player, with testimony from actor Tobey Maguire highlighting his gambling activities. Despite arguments from his defense team that prison would hinder his ability to repay debts and address his gambling addiction, the court imposed a prison sentence, along with five years of supervised release and over $3.1 million in restitution.
