Lightning Strike Causes Fire at New Baltimore Home, Captured on Ring Camera
A severe weather event in New Baltimore, Michigan, led to a lightning strike that set a home on fire. The incident occurred at 6:30 a.m. in the Windridge Estates neighborhood and was captured on a Ring doorbell camera. The lightning strike was so powerful that it blew off the roof of the house, causing significant damage. Neighbors reported feeling the impact as if it were an explosion or earthquake, with the effects noticeable up to half a mile away. Firefighters from six different departments responded to the scene, with 20 to 24 personnel working to control the blaze. The fire was primarily contained to the attic area but burned through the entire roof, affecting the second floor. Fortunately, the family residing in the home managed to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.
