Flooding Persists in Lake and McHenry Counties, Roads Closed
Flooding continues to impact Lake and McHenry counties, leading to numerous road closures and homes taking on water. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood warnings for both counties, with the Fox River expected to rise further. As of Tuesday morning, the river stage was at 11.8 feet, surpassing the flood stage of 9.5 feet, marking the highest level since 2020. The Des Plaines River is also experiencing minor flooding, with levels at 8.9 feet, above its flood stage of 7 feet. The McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) has closed River Road due to unsafe water levels, and additional closures are anticipated as water levels continue to rise.
