Russian Nuclear Center Tasked with Developing Semiconductor Equipment to Replace German Technologies
The Russian Federal Nuclear Center, known for its historical role in developing the Soviet atomic bomb, has been contracted to create semiconductor production equipment. This initiative aims to replace Austrian and German technologies with Russian-made components. The project, under the code name 'Dentist', involves developing installations for bonding and de-bonding semiconductor wafers. The contract, valued at 992.85 million rubles, was signed on July 6, 2026, with a completion deadline set for October 30, 2029. The center's expertise in high-precision mechanics and complex engineering is seen as crucial for this task.
