Florida Education Commissioner Kamoutsas Promotes Apprenticeship Programs to Boost Workforce Training
Florida Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas recently visited Ring Power Corporation in St. Augustine to highlight the state's apprenticeship programs during National Apprenticeship Week. The visit focused on the Diesel Engine and Heavy Equipment Technician programs, which currently support 52 registered apprentices. These programs offer paid, on-the-job training, providing students with hands-on experience in high-demand fields. Kamoutsas emphasized Florida's leadership in workforce education, attributing it to the state's prioritization of programs that deliver real opportunities for students and meet employer needs. The visit also underscored initiatives supported by Governor Ron DeSantis, such as the Apprentice Florida program, which is a collaboration between the Florida Department of Education, CareerSource Florida, and FloridaCommerce. This initiative aims to expand apprenticeship programs and align worker skills with industry demands across the state.
