Memorial Day Washout? Storms Threaten Southern States
More than 33 million Americans across Texas and the South are under a growing flash flood threat as repeated rounds of storms target the region through Memorial Day weekend. Tropical moisture from the Gulf is fueling slow-moving thunderstorms capable of dropping 1 to 3 inches of rain in hours, with isolated totals reaching 8 inches. Atlanta already saw severe flash flooding and water rescues during rush hour. Flood Watches are in effect for parts of Texas and Louisiana, while holiday travelers across the South are urged to closely monitor changing weather conditions.
