Mexico Leads North American Tourism Growth in 2025, Outpacing U.S. and Canada
Recent data from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) indicates that Mexico has surpassed the United States and Canada in terms of tourism growth for the year 2025. According to the WTTC's Economic Impact Research, Mexico's travel and tourism GDP increased by 1.8%, while the U.S. and Canada saw growth rates of 0.9% and 1.2%, respectively. Additionally, Mexico experienced a 6.1% rise in international visitor arrivals, contrasting with declines of 5.5% in the U.S. and 0.6% in Canada. The report also highlights that international visitor spending in Mexico grew by 3.5%, whereas the U.S. and Canada faced decreases of 4.6% and 3.5%, respectively. This performance positions Mexico as the leading tourism market in North America, ahead of significant events like the FIFA World Cup.
