Former Windy City Ghostbusters Member Accused of Illegally Seizing Control of Charity
A former member of the Windy City Ghostbusters, Frank Zeimetz, is accused of fraudulently taking control of the Ghostbusters-themed nonprofit organization. The group, known for raising money for children's hospitals, discovered in April that they were locked out of their bank account, which contained $6,849 in donations. The bank informed them that new paperwork identified Zeimetz as the president, not the group's actual president. Zeimetz allegedly filed the domestic corporation annual report with the Illinois Secretary of State's Office after the original deadline, falsely identifying himself as both president and director. He also stated that the organization would be dissolving and conducting no activities, despite the group's ongoing charitable work. The Illinois Secretary of State's Office has placed a hold on the charity's filing record and is investigating the matter, noting that the organization was never administratively dissolved as Zeimetz claimed in cease and desist letters.
