Governor Hochul Announces $490 Million Milestone for MWBE Participation in Buffalo Bills Stadium Project
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a significant economic milestone in the construction of the new Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium, with over $490 million paid to minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs). The project has surpassed its 30% MWBE participation target, marking the largest such participation in Western New York's public-private projects history. Nearly 140 MWBE firms have been awarded 304 contracts, with 83 of these firms based in Western New York. The stadium, which is about 96% complete, has seen more than $250 million in contracts awarded directly to regional MWBE businesses. The project is being hailed for its inclusive economic development and commitment to building generational wealth through local minority- and women-owned businesses.
