PNLD Breach Exposes U.K. Police and Government Contact Details on Dark Web
The Police National Legal Database (PNLD) has confirmed a data breach that exposed contact information of police officers, government officials, and other associated personnel on the dark web. The breach, identified on July 26, included names, organizations, and work email addresses. While passwords and security credentials were not compromised, the exposure of such information could lead to more convincing phishing attacks. The PNLD, which provides legal information to UK police forces, has contacted affected organizations and notified the Information Commissioner's Office. The breach does not involve the Police National Computer or confidential information about victims or offenders. The exact number of affected individuals and the method of data acquisition remain undisclosed.
