Charleston Carriage Incident Injures Driver and Passenger, Prompts Safety Review
In Charleston, South Carolina, a carriage incident occurred when a horse pulling a carriage was spooked at a stop sign at Church and Cumberland Street. The horse made a sharp u-turn, causing the carriage to hit an unoccupied parked vehicle and ejecting the driver and a passenger. Both individuals were transported to the hospital with injuries, while the horse, named Howard, was unharmed. Palmetto Carriage Works, the company operating the tour, stated that Howard will not conduct tours until a review of the incident is completed. The City of Charleston is actively investigating the circumstances to determine the cause of the incident.
