St. Louis Aldermen Advance Regulations for Data Centers to Address Environmental Concerns
St. Louis aldermen have advanced new regulations for data centers, aiming to balance environmental concerns with potential revenue generation for the city. The Board of Aldermen held a special session to refine these regulations, which include stricter requirements for renewable energy, sustainability, and other environmental protections. The city's Planning Commission will now review these updated rules after an earlier proposal was rejected. Board of Aldermen President Megan Green highlighted that these are among the strongest data regulations in the country, particularly noting the robust requirements for renewable energy within ten years.
